Composting is a fun and easy way to recycle your garden and kitchen waste and cut your rubbish by a third!

Composting is good for the environment!

Composting reduces the amount of rubbish that ends up in our bin by around one third! It helps to combat climate change by keeping organic waste out of landfill, where our rotting kitchen and garden waste would otherwise produce methane – a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

By composting at home you not only help combat climate change but you also produce your own nourishing soil. Compost is an excellent conditioner and mulch, which fertilises soil, retains moisture and can restrict weed growth. It is a great alternative to the peat-based compost sold in shops, which is often extracted from important natural wildlife sites.
