Recycle Western Riverside joins the Big Tidy Up
6 October 2008
Schools in Hammersmith and Fulham, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Kensington and Chelsea will be taking part in the Keep Britain Tidy campaign's 'Big Tidy Up', the country's biggest ever litter tidy up!
The Recycle Western Riverside campaign will be delivering special assemblies in schools and run litter-picking activities and games to highlight the problem of litter and what pupils can do to tidy up their school and local community.
Hannah Stradling, Education Officer for Recycle Western Riverside, said: "With litter being a major issue for many schools, the Big Tidy Up is an ideal way to teach young people about the problem of litter in their local environment. It's also an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the local community. The issues surrounding litter, waste and the local community fitperfectly into many areas of the school curriculum and are an idealstarting point for many group activities."
Recycle Western Riverside is currently looking for schools to take part. If you would like your school to join the Big Tidy Up, please get in touch with
Leena on 020 7549 0321. Your school will need to provide: a nominated teacher to register; a hall; an outdoor space; and an area for the litter pick to take place.
